PURPOSE
The Community Empowerment Board shall function as the governing board for the Dubuque Empowerment Area.
AREA
The Dubuque Empowerment Area shall consist of the county of Dubuque.
MEMBERSHIP
A majority of the members of the Community Empowerment Board shall be
private citizens and elected officials. There will be twenty members on
the board.
At least one member shall be:
- A service consumer or the parent of a service consumer
- A community volunteer
- A member of the Dubuque County Board of Supervisors
- A member of either the Dubuque Community School Board or the Western Dubuque School Board
- A city council member from one of the towns in Dubuque County
Agency members will be:
- The superintendent of the Western Dubuque Schools
- The superintendent of Dubuque Community Schools
- An educational representative from the Archdiocese of Dubuque
- A health representative for the city of Dubuque
- A health representative for Dubuque County
- The Dubuque supervisor of JCS
- The Administrator for Dubuque DHS
(The above members may ask that a permanent designee be appointed in their place.)
Other members will be:
- Seven additional citizens will be elected to serve on the board
- Any Dubuque County resident who is a member of the State Empowerment Board is automatically a member of the local Board
