Brief History
The
Early Childhood Task Force was formed in 1999 to review child care issues
in Dubuque County. The Task Force is comprised of Empowerment Board members;
professionals in the child care field; and any interested person or party.
We welcome new thoughts or ideas and encourage parent participation. The
goals of the committee are to increase the quantity and quality of child
care settings in Dubuque County.
Accomplishments to date include the following:
- Increases in number of infant child care slots.
- Visitation to all registered child care homes by staff who provide support and linkage to resources.
- Developments of strategies to reduce child care staff turnover in child care settings.
- Provision of resources/supplies to registered homes and centers.
- New training opportunities for child care professionals.
- Creation of plan to increase inclusion of special needs children in child care settings.
- Payment of preschool scholarships for up to 15 families.
